Battle: Lost Angeles Trailer Shows Alien Badassery

  • I was pretty excited when I first heard of Battle: Los Angeles (starring: Aaron Eckhart, Bridget Moynahan, and Michelle Rodriguez), but this first trailer has taken that excitement to a whole new level -- there were some tears of joy after viewing this.

The alien invasion storyline may seem a bit played out, but if executed well (writing, acting, effects, etc.) then I am all for it. District 9 is a great example of how you can turn a somewhat unoriginal concept into something interesting and emotional. Alien, and even monster movies, have been compared to D9 quite a bit lately, but that only shows the positive effect that movie had on the industry.

The synopsis, thanks to Joblo, to Battle: LA is as follows:
For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world – Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world’s great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. It’s up to a Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they’ve ever encountered before.
Enjoy this gem of a trailer, and be sure to express your feelings towards it. (The music fits perfectly with the chaos and emotion that ensues.)

Black Ops Will Be Better Than Modern Warfare 2

  • If it pleases you, and will help you sleep at night, you can quote me on this title. In fact, I will quote myself here:
Black Ops will be miles better than Modern Warfare 2.......miles!
See, that is not something you will see everyday, someone quoting themselves. This is just how confident I am that Black Ops will reign supreme.

The original Modern Warfare was, in my eyes at least, the best and most innovative FPS to be released on consoles since Halo: Combat Evolved.

I consider myself a gamer, but not to the point where I am playing 6 hours a day; it's more along the lines of 2-3 hours about every other day. That being said, I put about 6 days of my life into the first Modern Warfare, and to this day I do not regret it. (I had surgery on my elbow, so baseball was out of the picture for the time being, and school was the only thing that kept me from putting about 8 days of my life into that game.)

The simple removal of the heartbeat sensor attachment; one man army and commando perk; and the nuke killstreak are arguably the biggest reason why BO will be better than MW2. This should help eliminate the massive amount of camping that took place in MW2 -- kids will still camp, but not nearly as much -- and the hundreds of noob tubes and claymores on every square inch of the map.

R.I.P. Paul the Octopus, Your Predictions Will be Missed

  • Back in July, many of you World Cup fans may remember a certain octopus predicting Spain as this years winners. In case you forgot, or missed it, check this article out.

Paul gained popularity very quickly -- Why wouldn't he? He can predict the outcome of sporting events for crying out loud -- and he is still beloved by many outside of the World Cup.

Unfortunately, our tentacled friend has passed away, and has moved on to a much better place (octopussy heaven?). They are saying that he went peacefully in his tank, and there was no foul play at hand.

    Yahoo had this to say:
Paul had reached octopus old age of 2 1/2 years and died in his tank on Tuesday morning in an aquarium in the western German city of Oberhausen, spokeswoman Ariane Vieregge said.

Paul seemed to be in good shape when he was checked late Monday, but he did not make it through the night. He died of natural causes, Vieregge added.
My best wishes go out to all of Paul's cephalopod relatives. His genius and charisma will be sorely missed. I told myself I was not going to cry.....I am going to pore one out for the homies.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost help Alien in the 'Paul' Teaser

  • Simply put, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have yet to disappoint me with any of the feature films. Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are two of my favorite comedies to be released this past decade, and Paul looks to be joining that party.

In case you are still a little "fuzzy" (if you guess the pun, you get a cookie) on what Paul is all about, here is the full on synopsis from Universal Pictures -- if you do not want to know too much, I would not recommend reading it all.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reunite for the comedy adventure Paul as two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage takes them to America’s UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who brings them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever.

For the past 60 years, an alien named Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen) has been hanging out at a top-secret military base. For reasons unknown, the space-travelling smart ass decides to escape the compound and hop on the first vehicle out of town—a rented RV containing Earthlings Graeme Willy (Pegg) and Clive Collings (Frost).

Chased by federal agents and the fanatical father of a young woman that they accidentally kidnap, Graeme and Clive hatch a fumbling escape plan to return Paul to his mother ship. And as two nerds struggle to help, one little green man might just take his fellow outcasts from misfits to intergalactic heroes.
Now that we are all on the same page, check out the teaser below.

    Ghostbusters + AC/DC = Thunder Busters

  • Saw this video a while back, and just forgot to post it.....sue me. Alas, I have come through in the clutch and remembered this little gem -- the memory actually came to me when I saw Ghostbusters on TV, and started humming the theme song.

If you are a fan of AC/DC's "Thunderstruck," and the Ghostbusters theme song (you can be a fan of one or the other to appreciate this mix), then you are in luck.

Thanks to Wax Audio, you can enjoy the two songs rhythmically mixed together, forming "Thunder Busters."

This is awesomeness to on a whole new level, but you will have to continue after the jump to view the video -- I want you to fully enjoy the video, and it is too wide for the home page.
